Opioid Overdose in New Jersey: Why Access Matters
In 2024, New Jersey recorded 1,992 drug overdose deaths and an age-adjusted all-drug overdose death rate of 20.2 per 100,000, compared with 23.1 nationally (CDC NCHS via KFF). The state recorded 3,056 deaths in 2021, so the subsequent decline was substantial, but every loss still matters.
